Jan Winkler and Hermine Drezner, mentors at Jupiter Elementary, established a scholarship fund through the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County twelve years ago.? Each year selected students from grades 3-5 are awarded $1,000.00 each towards a college of their choice.?
While volunteering with our students, Mr. Winkler and Ms. Drezner realized that for many of our children, college was not even considered due to financial situations and/or family histories.? They wanted to start a scholarship program to bring the talk of college into their homes and help families realize it can be a part of their future.
A WINNER Scholarship Awards Assembly is scheduled for Friday, December 21, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. in the Jupiter Elementary Cafeteria.? Recipients will be announced and honored at that time.
