One of the best pieces of advice I've ever been given is to "stay in the moment." All too often, people worry about problems that aren't presently on the table.
Using Katie as an example, she supposedly has anxiety about her next romance when she hasn't even met anyone yet.
Katie's not alone in her stress. I hear from women all of the time about how they don't want to date because they're afraid of another bad relationship. Understandably, they want to protect themselves from going to a bad place again after?working hard to overcome their past.
My advice isn't to rush into the next relationship. I won't even offer trite platitudes such as "it's better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all."
If you're learning from your past relationships, though, then?you won't make the same mistakes. As such, your future romances won't?resemble those in?your?past because you won't let?it happen.
As for ending up with another controlling man -- no one controls you unless you allow it. Katie's worried that she'll find another "Tom." This isn't about the guy -- it's about her. What's really bothering her is that she'll let it happen again.
See, I wouldn't think twice about not dating because I'd worry a man would control me. I have no patience or time for that -- especially if he isn't my husband.
Katie should date when she's ready. She'll never find out who she is in her next relationship until she has one.
Be fearless and never worry?anyone will steal your power.
Until next time...
